Earn As You Learn

This follow-up program - one of two - at the Miami Valley Women’s Center is designed to provide practical and emotional support to you and your child.  Both programs allow you to earn items for your child by meeting regularly with one of our caring volunteers and completing assignments between appointments.  You and your support person will work through such topics as relationships, parenting, decision making, goal setting, budgeting and/or others.

If you choose to participate in Earn As You Learn, you may earn gently used items for your baby or young child. 

You will meet once a week for 5 weeks with your support person to discuss a topic chosen from our available list.  You will also be given assignments to complete each week.  After you have completed three sessions with your support person, you may receive two small furniture items (stroller, high chair, car seat, swing, etc.).  You can earn a crib by keeping five EAYL appointments. 

You will earn Learning Loot for each visit as well as by keeping doctor’s appointments, attending approved classes, writing book or video reports, etc.  Learning Loot can be used to shop for diapers, formula, baby food, or gently used items.  You may repeat the Earn As You Learn program if space is available.
