GIFT - Giving Insight, Friendship and Truth

“Who am I” “Who loves me?” What can I do with my life?”

On any given day, in schools across the Miami Valley, these questions are being answered by women who are volunteering in the GIFT ministry. GIFT - Giving Insight, Friendship and Truth - is a mentoring program for 8th and 9th grade girls. GIFT teaches girls valuable lessons about their worth, decision-making, consequences of their choices, and the truth about sex outside of marriage. If there’s one thing we’ve heard from our clients, it is that they wish someone would have told them the truth before they made their poor choices. Without caring women teaching girls this truth, their future is likely to hold one or more of the following: unplanned pregnancies, STD’s, abortion, abuse, shame, divorce, poverty and possibly death. The volunteers and staff are doing an incredible job helping women rebuild their lives after the crisis, but we also feel a burgeoning obligation to prevent the crisis from ever happening.
