About Us » History of the Miami Valley Women's Center

In 1980, two Christian women, Jo Anne Rohrer and Debi Sayer, felt a burden to help those who were facing unplanned pregnancies, while watching a film series called Whatever Happened to the Human Race by Frances Scheaffer, and C. Everett Koob.  Frances Scheaffer is author of many books on Christianity and Christian ethics, and C. Everett Koob is our former Surgeon General.  Frances Scheaffer said, "If we are going to say abortion is wrong in God’s eyes, we need to reach out in love and compassion to women who are facing unplanned pregnancies."

Jo Anne said, "I couldn't get that out of my mind because I knew he was right - -  that love and hope through Christ were the answers."

So two years later, in 1982, with other committed people God opened the Miami Valley Women’s Center.  To date, the Center has three locations in the Dayton area-

Kettering (divinely located on the same street as the abortion clinic),
Huber Heights,
and Xenia.
